Volunteer with Junior Achievement!

Volunteers embody the heart of Junior Achievement. Taking a message of opportunity and boundless potential to a classroom in your community, no matter what your profession, is Junior Achievement in action.

We serve ten counties in southeast Michigan! Opportunities abound!

JA Finance Park--JA Finance Park is a capstone experience for students who complete a 25-hour financial literacy program in the classroom. Each student uses a tablet with an individual life scenario.  Volunteers will help guide the students as they learn about the “cost of living”, visit on-site storefronts and ultimately create a budget that aligns with the income provided on their tablets.  15-20 volunteers are often needed.

JA Journey 2 Jobs--Provides students hands-on, real-world exposure to the array of possibilities within specific industries.  These events will have 15-30 different companies highlighting themselves and showcasing the wide variety of careers within each organization.  For an exhibit, we ask companies to bring two or more colleagues to talk about the various opportunities in your company and/or industry.

We also need volunteers to guide small groups of students from station to station for a set amount of time, as well as answer and encourage their questions.

Materials will be provided to volunteers ahead of time.  12-15 volunteers who currently work in STEM careers are needed, usually this is supported by one company per session.

JA in a Day!--In this high-impact program, volunteers will have the opportunity to bring JA programs into the classroom. Classroom volunteers introduce K-8 students to concepts that combine real-life experiences with JA’s economic-based curricula, showing students the relevance between what they are learning in school and the “real world.” The JA programs team provides materials and training to all volunteers prior to their time in the classroom. The classrooms will have two volunteers each (minimum). This is also a great way for companies/teams/groups to come in, spend the day and make a difference together. Depending on the number of volunteers, groups can provide programs to a grade, multiple grades, or even an entire school! 2 – 40 volunteers are needed. If a full day does not work for you, we have another option: one hour a week for multiple weeks!
