People

Junior Achievement’s mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed. The inspiration piece comes from community volunteers who not only deliver our lessons but share their experiences. In the process, these volunteers serve as role models helping to positively impact young people’s perceptions about the importance of education, as well as critical life skills. Preparation involves our proven lessons that promote financial capability, work and career readiness, and business ownership.

Empowering the Next Generation

Junior Achievement’s proven lessons in financial literacy, work and career readiness, and entrepreneurship are shown to positively impact the lives of young people. These lessons align with national and state educational standards and are delivered to millions of students across the country with the help of our education partners and volunteers from the local community.

Research shows that JA Alumni are more likely to have a college degree, feel confident managing money, have career success, and have started a business as an adult.

JASEM Strategic Plan: Vision 2030

In early March 2020, Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan (JASEM) completed a long-term strategic plan for the organization with input from JASEM Staff, Board Members and key community stakeholders. It is with excitement that I am able to share with you this plan today:

This strategic planning process was launched in the fall of 2019 and was presented to the Board just as the U.S. began fully encountering the COVID-19 pandemic. While no one can fully predict the impact, the gravity of the pandemic is significant. At the same time, the Strategic Vision 2030 for JASEM created through this strategic planning process still reflects the fundamental future direction of the organization and the foundation for JASEM to increase its impact by reaching more students throughout the region with a model that provides both financial and volunteer sustainability.

The 2030 vision for the organization is aspirational and inspirational. Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan firmly believes that all youth, no matter age, race or socio-economic status deserve the opportunity for future success in a global economy. We are committed to working through these challenges and delivering this vision. We will learn from this global crisis and continue to provide educational programs that motivate and prepare the next generation to succeed and become positive influencers in the world.
